Water means fun and we have plenty of it in Lake Zell. Whether liquid, frozen or evaporating on a foggy autumn day – time at the water will fill your batteries. We have a total of 4 lidos from which you can start countless activities at the water: Swimming, SUP, water skiing, kite surfing, windsurfing or boat tours with the MS Schmitten or you can rent your own private boat. Lidos at lake Zell

There are several swimming pools located around lake Zell. These lidos offer children pools, restaurants, cabins, showers and many more amenities.  For those who enjoy swimming with convenient features, the region offers a total of 4 public lidos. The Lido Seespitz and Thumersbach are well known for water sports. If you take a swim with your Kids we recommend the one in Zell am See and also the one in Thumersbach. The lido Maishofen ist the smallest one, but has free entrance.

Of course, we have some more opportunities to hop into the water of Lake Zell free of charge. Tip: If you walk from 100-200m left or right from Zell am See city centre, you will find cosy peninsulas. In addition to the that, one can find plenty of free bathing areas around the lake. Haus Gabi and the Wieshof area offer even beach volleyball courts and cabins. Lake Zell offers many water sports options for all our active guests. They reach from SUP and wind surfing to water skiing and wake boarding to banana boat cruising. For all, who want enjoy the lake in a more relaxed manner,  they take a tour with the Schmitten shipping or rent their own private boat.

SUP at Lake Zell

The stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) course on Lake Zell begins daily at 9:00am. You need to register for the course in advance. The most frequently asked offers are the trial course and the lake crossing tour. Both are starting at a cost of €40. The SUP centre Zell am See also offers ‘Yoga on the Lake’ every Sunday in July and August. Wind Surfing is also available. Depending on demand, wild water tours and excursions are available in the most beautiful places of the region.

Water Skiing & more

The water sport activities at Edi’s Water Ski School include water skiing, wakeboarding, banana boat, tubing, parasailing and more. It is situated next to the Beach Club Thumersbach at the public Lido. It is open daily in the summer months from May until September. Parents and their children will find suitable activity and anyway a lot of fun in the water is guaranteed!

Shipping on lake Zell

A trip around Lake Zell with the MS Schmittenhöhe is definitely a must. The trip itself takes about 50 minutes. The staff on board will take care of you in all manners. On the roof of the MS Schmittenhöhe you can enjoy an impressive mountain scenery that stretches from the Steinernen Meer over the Schmittenhöhe to the Kitzsteinhorn. During the summer months of July and August, the boat departs every full hour. First boat starts at 10.00am and Last boat departs at 5.00pm

Boat rentals lake Zell

There are many suppliers around the Zeller Lake for electric and paddle boats. The most central supplier is “Scheicher Boote” directly at the “Esplanade” in Zell am See centre. There you can rent paddle boats, electric boats and row boats per hour. In the summer they are available every day. On your trip you can enjoy a breath-taking view of the mountains and also the scenery of Zell am See old town.
