Experience the winter in Zell am See-Kaprun from its most beautiful side. Where there are hiking trails in the summer, you will find numerous snowshoe trails and hiking paths in the winter. Whether it’s a guided tour or an expedition on your own, there is no better way to explore the snowy winter landscape then on your own feet. Here we have the options:

  • Our guests will find some winter hiking trails on the promenades of the Zeller Lakeshores, as well as directly at the lake. Most of the paths are cleared.
  • For those who want to hike higher, for example on the Schwalbenwand, it is best get some snowshoes for the fresh powder snow. On the Schmittenhöhe and the Kitzsteinhorn there are also guided winter hikes.

Brunnwiesenweg from Kaprun

The Brunnwiesenweg is the ideal walk for all family. You start from Kaprun, passing the castle of Kaprun, through the Kaprun moor and walk along the Salzach shores towards Salzachbrückenwirt. The paths are cleared and suitable for baby prams.

Dr. Müller Promenade

The Dr. Müller Promenade (No. 61) connects Zell am See with the area Einöd, which lies in the direction of Maishofen. The promenade runs along the lakeshores and offers fantastic views. The path is usually cleared, but hiking shoes are recommended.

Golf Course Route

The golf course route starts in Schüttdorf. It is also an easy hike but offers fantastic views. You walk along the cross-country trail through the Zeller Becken past the golf course and frozen ponds. The route through the Zeller Becken is a beautiful option for couples and the whole family.

Cross-country skiing in skating or classic style

You can search for a comparable cross-country network, such as the one here in Zell am See – Kaprun, but it will be hard to find. Whether in classic or skating style, at night or in altitude training, our guests will find the perfect cross-country skiing conditions. We put together an overview for you:

  • You will find the start of the castle track in the centre of Kaprun (fire station), which is the same as for the Tauern Spa track.
  • To train in the early autumn or in the spring, you will find the perfect altitude training camp on the glacier track Kitzsteinhorn.
  • Via the trail in Zell am See - Maishofen, you can skate to the adjoining network of the Saalachtal.
  • Via Kaprun you can join the Piesendorf track and get as far as to Niedernsill. This offers up to a total of more than 107 kilometres of trails.
